POWER
Delivering Excellence: From Generation to Transmission

Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) has been a trusted name in power engineering for over sixty years. Our Power Business Unit (PBU) supports clients across thermal, nuclear, hydro, and renewable energy, as well as transmission and distribution. We offer end-to-end services including feasibility studies, design, engineering, procurement support, project management, and operational assistance for large and complex energy programmes.

From powering cities to supporting remote regions, our engineers have helped shape more than 300 gigawatts of power generation capacity. We’ve designed over 85 percent of India’s civilian nuclear infrastructure, built 12,000+ circuit kilometres of transmission lines, and delivered 250 substations that keep electricity flowing reliably across the country.

Our expertise in nuclear engineering extends to advanced global programmes. We’ve contributed to ITER, the international fusion research project in France, showcasing our ability to work with high-precision systems and global research institutions.

TCE is also helping shape the future of nuclear energy through active participation in Small Modular Reactor (SMR) programmes. Our work supports global SMR development and India’s Bharat Small Reactor (BSR) initiative, aimed at creating scalable, safe, and commercially viable nuclear systems for industrial clusters, island grids, and remote communities.

In energy storage, TCE leads India’s growth in pumped hydro. We played a key role in the Pinnapuram Integrated Pumped Storage Project, the largest in the country, serving as the Owner’s Engineer. We also supported a 100 MW floating solar feasibility study, opening new possibilities for clean energy development.

Innovation drives our work in transmission systems. We supported a national pilot on Dynamic Line Rating for a 100 km, 400 kV double circuit corridor. This project, featured in the National Electricity Plan, shows how smart technologies can boost grid capacity without expanding land use.

With deep technical knowledge, multidisciplinary design capabilities, and proven execution experience, TCE remains a trusted partner for utilities, developers, government agencies, and international organisations. We are committed to building energy systems that are sustainable, resilient, and aligned with future technology, policy, and climate goals.

TCE continues to support the global energy transition through responsible engineering, nuclear innovation, and long-term value creation for society and industry.
