The Kakrapar Atomic Power Project in Gujarat features two 235 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) units forming a key part of India’s western grid. Unit 1 entered commercial operation in 1993 and Unit 2 in 1995, contributing significantly to the region’s reliable power supply.

Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) carried out detailed engineering for the reactor, turbine, and service buildings, as well as the PHT purification building. The company also designed the electrical systems, auxiliary power supply, and 220 kV switchyard, ensuring operational efficiency and grid stability. TCE’s technical expertise and system integration capabilities helped deliver a safe and robust nuclear power facility that supports India’s growing demand for clean and dependable energy.
