This project involves replacement of approximately 21,000 existing energy meters serving commercial, government and residential consumers, along with upgrading of the existing Meter Data Management System to accommodate the new meters. The work forms part of Phase 2 implementation in the MYAS area of Yanbu.

The scope included detailed site surveys, preparation of basic design engineering packages, development of request for proposal tender documents, and definition of technical requirements for metering technology and associated systems. The assignment also covered standardisation, modularisation and value engineering to support scalable deployment.

The upgraded metering solution enables improved data acquisition, enhanced billing accuracy and real time visibility of consumption patterns for both the utility and end users.

TCE's Scope

TCE provided project management consultancy services, including site surveys, basic and detailed design engineering, preparation of tender packages, standardisation strategies, constructability and operability reviews, health and safety reviews, project risk management planning and overall project management and safety oversight.

Impact

The project supported modernisation of metering infrastructure by enabling real time data availability, improved operational efficiency and reduced billing and metering related disputes. The upgraded system improved customer engagement, enhanced outage management capabilities and reduced long term utility operating costs through better asset utilisation.
