Located near the Rana Pratap Sagar dam in Rajasthan, the Rajasthan Atomic Power Project Units 1 and 2 are 200 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWR) that form an essential part of India’s northern grid. Unit 1 began commercial operation in 1973, followed by Unit 2 in 1981. The project marked an important stage in India’s early nuclear power development.

Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) contributed to the project by reviewing the electrical system design and conducting detailed analyses for seamless grid integration. The team’s work ensured stable and efficient power distribution across the northern region. By combining technical precision with practical design expertise, TCE supported Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) in enhancing reliability and operational safety for one of India’s pioneering nuclear power plants. This collaboration further strengthened TCE’s position as a key engineering partner in India’s growing nuclear ecosystem.
