The project involved the development and subsequent expansion of a diesel captive power plant with a total installed capacity of 32.5 MW, comprising 2 x 6.5 MW units in Phase I and 3 x 6.5 MW units in Phase II. The plant occupied an area of 4.5 acres within an industrial manufacturing facility.

Each diesel generator was rated at 7380 kW, operating at 750 rpm, with generators delivering power at 11000 volts. A heat recovery system generated 2984 kg per hour of steam at 12 kg per square centimetre and 190 degrees Celsius for process use. Power was distributed through an 11 kV bus integrated with an existing 110 kV grid connection.

TCE’s Scope

TCE provided detailed engineering services including construction drawings, piping layouts, system studies, tender documentation and electrical integration with existing power infrastructure.

Impact

TCE ensured seamless integration of captive power generation with process steam requirements, enhancing energy reliability and operational efficiency for the industrial facility.
