This project comprised a captive diesel power plant with an installed capacity of 28.08 MW, configured as 3 x 9.36 MW generating units. The plant was located within an industrial complex adjacent to port facilities and was designed to meet continuous captive power requirements.
The facility incorporated flue gas desulphurisation systems for sulphur oxide control, supporting environmentally responsible operation. Diesel engines were rated at 10860 kW, operating at 500 rpm, coupled with generators operating at 6.6 kV. The plant achieved annual energy generation of 167266900 units at 80 percent PLF.
Power generated was distributed through multiple 6.6 kV feeders supplying process plants and port facilities. Water requirements were met through an existing cooling water pond within the complex.
TCE’s Scope
TCE’s scope included preparation of feasibility reports, basic and detailed engineering, design of offsite systems, flue gas desulphurisation systems and procurement support for imported and indigenous equipment.
Impact
TCE enabled the delivery of a reliable captive power solution with integrated emission control systems, ensuring operational stability and environmental compliance for continuous industrial operations.
