This project involved a repurposing focused study to analyse the requirement of a synchronous condenser for three thermal power plants located in West Bengal and Jharkhand. The objective was to assess reactive power compensation needs using an all India database and determine the suitability of synchronous condenser based system support.

The key deliverable was a consolidated power system analysis report covering all three thermal power plants included in the study, supporting informed repurposing decisions.

TCE's Scope

TCE carried out assessment of reactive power compensation requirements using the all India database and prepared a consolidated power system analysis report covering three thermal power plants. The scope focused on evaluating synchronous condenser requirements as part of repurposing considerations.

Impact

The study provided a clear technical basis for repurposing decisions by identifying reactive power support needs and synchronous condenser suitability for three thermal power plants, supporting improved grid performance and voltage stability.
