The Shri Ramjanmabhoomi Project in Ayodhya is a landmark initiative to create a grand temple complex that reflects India’s rich heritage and spiritual legacy. The main temple stands as an impressive structure, measuring 108 metres in length, 75 metres in width, and rising to a height of 49 metres. It is supported by 392 pillars and features 42 doors, with 14 of them adorned in gold plating. The temple is built using Bansi Paharpur sandstone and Maharashtra teakwood, with advanced engineering ensuring its strength and durability. The project also includes a vast landscaped area, a boundary wall known as the parkota, and several facilities for pilgrims, all designed to provide a welcoming and spiritual environment.
TCE's Scope
TCE has played a central role as the principal consultant for design, engineering, and project management throughout the project. Their responsibilities have included reviewing and innovating the structural design, ensuring seismic resilience through advanced 3D structural analysis, and introducing new solutions for the foundation using roller-compacted concrete and granite blocks. TCE has also managed the construction of the raft and plinth foundations, implemented 4D modelling for project management, and provided expertise in landscaping, lighting, and the development of allied facilities such as the Pilgrim Facilitation Centre, security systems, and utility services. Their work has extended to stabilising natural features like the Kuber Tila and integrating modern safety and management systems across the site.
Impact
TCE’s involvement has ensured that the Shri Ramjanmabhoomi Project sets new standards in engineering excellence, safety, and sustainability. Their innovative solutions have addressed complex challenges, such as seismic safety and foundation stability, while respecting the cultural and historical significance of the site. The use of advanced modelling and project management tools has improved efficiency, reduced risks, and kept the project on schedule. The result is a temple complex that not only stands as a symbol of faith and tradition but also demonstrates the power of modern engineering to preserve heritage for future generations. TCE’s contribution has helped create a world-class destination that will inspire visitors and serve as a benchmark for similar projects.
