The latest expansion at Rawatbhata introduced two 700 MWe PHWRs, showcasing India’s advanced reactor technology. Unit 7 achieved criticality in 2024 and was synchronised with the grid in 2025, while Unit 8 is scheduled to follow. Together, they add 1,400 MW of low-carbon power, reinforcing India’s commitment to sustainable energy.

Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) delivered complete engineering for the conventional island, including process, civil, electrical, and instrumentation systems. The scope also included procurement support and on-site assistance during construction and commissioning phases.
