This project involved comprehensive power system stability consultancy services for an industrial mining and processing electrical network, aimed at ensuring secure, reliable and efficient operation under varying load, fault and disturbance conditions. The studies included static power flow analysis, transient stability assessment and dynamic stability assessment to evaluate system performance under both steady state and disturbed operating scenarios.

The assignment also covered grid islanding studies and load shedding studies to ensure continuity of critical operations during upstream grid outages. Protection scope included relay coordination studies and unit protection studies for generators, transformers and 11 kV motors. EMT and overvoltage analyses were also carried out to validate design schemes and strengthen the protection architecture.

TCE's Scope

TCE executed power system studies covering steady state power flow, transient and dynamic stability, islanding and load shedding assessments, protection relay coordination and unit protection reviews for generators, transformers and 11 kV motors. The scope included EMT and overvoltage analyses and preparation of consolidated technical reports with implementation recommendations.

Impact

The study outcomes strengthened system resilience and reduced operational risk by validating stability performance and protection coordination under both normal and contingency conditions. The deliverables supported safer and more reliable electrical operation by improving readiness for upstream outages and ensuring continuity of critical plant operations.
