The project involved reorganisation and upgradation of an existing electrical distribution system serving port operations, facilities and residential areas. The existing system comprised two 22 kV primary substations, 17 secondary substations operating at 6.6 kV and 440 V, a 6.6 kV cable network and a 440 V distribution network that had been in service for approximately 50 years.

The modernisation plan proposed establishment of two new primary substations, one on the south side and one on the north side, along with associated cable systems. The distribution network was reorganised into three functional zones covering port-based operations, port facilities and housing complexes. Four new distribution substations were also proposed.

TCE's Scope

TCE prepared the initial feasibility report for system reorganisation and subsequently provided detailed engineering and construction supervision services. The scope included system planning, preparation of engineering designs, equipment specifications and implementation support during execution.

Impact

The upgraded distribution system improved reliability and operational efficiency of electrical supply across port operations and residential areas. The restructured network supported modernisation initiatives and enabled safer, more dependable power distribution aligned with long term infrastructure requirements.
