The Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail is India’s first high speed rail project and a landmark in modern transport. It will span 508 kilometres with 12 stations, reducing travel time between Ahmedabad and Mumbai from eight hours to just two hours. The alignment includes a 21 kilometre single tube tunnel, the largest in the country, designed to protect sensitive ecological zones such as the flamingo sanctuary and mangroves. A seven kilometre stretch of this tunnel will run under the seabed at Thane creek. About ninety two percent of the track will be elevated through viaducts and bridges, with the remaining sections comprising tunnels and embankments. This ambitious project is divided into 27 functional packages to ensure smooth and efficient execution.

TCE's Scope

TCE is the lead consortium member under TCAP, working with two domestic firms and one Japanese consulting firm. The scope covers design review, integrated system interface, contract administration, construction supervision, quality assurance and environmental health and safety. TCAP has deployed over six hundred engineers, including international experts, to manage multidisciplinary services such as progress monitoring and technical processes. The team ensures that the project is delivered on time and meets all quality standards. Special attention is given to planning and erecting long span steel bridges within busy railway stations at Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati. TCAP has also introduced the SmartSite App to improve productivity and reporting, with features such as geo tagging and attendance tracking for efficient workforce management.

Impact

This project will redefine connectivity between two major economic hubs and set a benchmark for future high speed rail systems in India. It will dramatically reduce travel time, improve passenger comfort and promote sustainable transport. Beyond speed and convenience, the project will stimulate economic growth, create jobs and encourage technology adoption across the infrastructure sector. By combining advanced engineering, digital tools and global expertise, TCE is helping to deliver a world class transport solution that reflects India’s vision for modern mobility. The Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail is not just a railway; it is a symbol of progress and innovation that will inspire generations.
