Kakrapar Units 3 and 4 are India’s first pair of 700 MWe indigenous PHWRs, setting new benchmarks in design and safety. Unit 3 entered commercial operation in 2023, followed by Unit 4 achieving criticality in 2023 and progressing towards full power. These reactors incorporate advanced safety features, including steel-lined containment and passive heat removal systems.

Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) developed advanced 3D and intelligent design systems for reactor auxiliaries and balance-of-plant systems. The team provided civil, structural, piping, and electrical design, along with procurement and commissioning support.
