Location

Jharkhand, India

Jamshedpur’s water supply system serves planned industrial areas, residential neighbourhoods and rapidly growing peripheral settlements. Increasing demand, ageing infrastructure and uneven service coverage created the need for systematic improvement of the supply framework. The project assessed and upgraded treatment facilities, transmission mains, pumping stations and distribution networks to identify hydraulic bottlenecks, capacity constraints and areas of high losses and planned strengthening measures to improve performance under average and peak demand conditions.

TCE's Scope

Tata Consulting Engineers conducted demand forecasting and hydraulic analysis of transmission and distribution systems, prepared improvement proposals and delivered detailed designs for rehabilitation and augmentation works. Technical specifications, drawings and tender documentation were prepared. Engineering solutions optimised use of existing assets while introducing targeted upgrades to enhance reliability and operational flexibility, and phased implementation strategies were defined to minimise disruption and allow incremental capacity enhancement.

Impact

The project improved supply reliability, strengthened distribution efficiency and provided a scalable framework to meet Jamshedpur’s future water demand.
