Jaipur faced water loss and inefficiencies in distribution which affected reliability and sustainability. The project established a strategy to measure and reduce unaccounted for water by reviewing practices and procedures and recommending improvements in meter reading and testing. Bulk meters and pressure points were installed in selected zones, boundary valves were repaired and inflow and consumption were measured to assess losses while transmission mains were evaluated using advanced flow metres.

TCE's Scope

Tata Consulting Engineers worked with Seureca Consulting Engineers to establish systems for auditing water flows and testing customer meters for accuracy, led pilot studies in seven zones, assessed transmission mains and provided classroom training for local engineers to use new software tools and implement monitoring.

Impact

The project quantified water losses, improved operational practices and guided the city towards more effective water management with targeted leakage reduction strategies.
