This integrated renewable energy development involves a large hybrid system combining 1.2 GW of wind power and 850 MW of solar photovoltaic capacity. The project forms part of a major renewable energy programme designed to support long term energy availability and strengthen the transition to clean power in southern India. It is noted as one of the world’s first and largest integrated systems at gigawatt scale that brings together solar, wind and pumped storage components to deliver schedulable power on demand.

TCE's Scope

TCE delivered the complete conceptual design and the owner’s engineering services for the project. The work included the Front End Engineering Design for the entire electrical system infrastructure, the power supply network and distribution planning. TCE finalised the configuration of the solar photovoltaic capacity along with the battery energy storage component.

The scope also covered planning for multiple substations and the transmission line network needed to transfer power to the green ammonia and green hydrogen production plant associated with the wider development.

Impact

TCE’s engineering enabled the creation of a technically sound and integrated renewable energy system that supports the delivery of continuous and schedulable clean power. The detailed infrastructure planning strengthens operational reliability and supports the development of large scale clean energy production in the region.
