A hyperscale data centre campus in Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai required a robust and scalable power infrastructure to support large digital workloads and continuous operations. The project involved the development of high‑voltage electrical systems designed to meet the reliability, redundancy and scalability requirements of hyperscale digital infrastructure.

TCE’s Scope

Tata Consulting Engineers provided complete design consultancy for the campus power systems, covering 220 kV/33 kV and 400 kV/33 kV GIS substations. The scope included power interface engineering, switchyard and substation layouts, and definition of the overall load architecture designed to support up to 1 GW of demand, including 620 MW of IT load. TCE also engineered the 33 kV power distribution framework to individual data centre buildings, aligned to redundancy and reliability requirements.

Impact

The project established a dependable power backbone for a large hyperscale data centre campus, enabling scalable and resilient digital infrastructure. The engineered systems support uninterrupted operations, efficient power distribution and future capacity expansion, forming a strong foundation for next‑generation data centre development.
