The Hydrogen Fuelling Station for Green Hydrogen Mobility is an innovative initiative located in Leh, Ladakh. The project aims to generate eighty kilograms of green hydrogen daily to fuel five intracity fuel cell electric buses. The station will include both hydrogen generation and dispensing units, and will be powered entirely by a dedicated one point seven megawatt solar power plant situated next to the fuelling station. The facility will feature advanced equipment such as a bi-polar electrolysis-based hydrogen generation system, hydrogen compressors, high and low pressure storage systems, hydrogen coolers, and a dispensing unit. Various auxiliary systems will also be installed to ensure safe and continuous operation.

TCE's Scope

TCE has been appointed as the Engineering Consultant for this project, responsible for delivering detailed engineering services. Their role covers the complete design and engineering of the hydrogen generation, storage, and dispensing systems, as well as integration with the solar power plant. TCE will also oversee the selection and specification of major equipment, ensure compliance with safety standards, and provide technical support during installation and commissioning. The project is planned for completion, including commissioning, within eleven months from the award date.

Impact

TCE’s involvement in this project supports the adoption of clean and sustainable mobility solutions in a challenging environment like Ladakh. By enabling the use of green hydrogen produced from solar energy, the project will help reduce carbon emissions and promote the use of renewable energy in public transport. The station will serve as a model for future hydrogen mobility projects in India, demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of integrating renewable energy with advanced hydrogen technology. TCE’s expertise ensures that the project meets high standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.
