Hyderabad’s water supply system underwent multiple phases of expansion as the city grew in population and spatial extent. Rising demand and dependence on distant sources required strengthening of transmission and distribution infrastructure to improve reliability and reduce losses. The project conducted system wide assessment and targeted augmentation of key components including intake systems, treatment plants, transmission mains, pumping stations and distribution networks to identify capacity constraints, hydraulic inefficiencies and gaps that affected long term service delivery.

TCE's Scope

Tata Consulting Engineers carried out infrastructure surveys, hydraulic analysis and preparation of strengthening proposals, developed detailed designs for rehabilitation and augmentation works and prepared technical documentation to support phased implementation. Engineering interventions focused on improving conveyance efficiency, stabilising system pressures and enhancing operational reliability while ensuring compatibility with future source augmentation and urban expansion.

Impact

The project improved Hyderabad’s ability to meet growing demand, strengthened system resilience and enhanced operational understanding of the water supply network.
