Hyderabad’s expanding urban landscape increased demands on the water supply system. Leakage and wastage reduced delivery efficiency and raised operational costs. The project quantified losses and developed practical solutions through comprehensive leak detection surveys, operational reviews and water audits that tested ten thousand service connections, supervised repairs and conducted retesting and measured flows on transmission mains and treatment plants to assess system losses.
TCE's Scope
Tata Consulting Engineers reviewed consumption records, assessed meter accuracy and evaluated supplies from public stand posts and unmetered connections. Detailed reports and manuals were prepared for leak detection, service connections and operation and maintenance practices. Utility staff received hands on training in field techniques, data management and equipment use.
Impact
The project delivered measurable reductions in leakage, improved operational practices and strengthened the utility’s capacity to manage resources effectively.
