The Haora Riverfront Development is a city‑shaping initiative aimed at restoring Agartala’s relationship with the Haora River while revitalising its urban core. The project envisions the riverfront as an active public realm that supports everyday use, cultural life and environmental improvement. Planned along a 1.7 km stretch of the river, the development integrates landscaped river edges, multilevel promenades, pedestrian friendly walkways and cycling tracks. Public parks, shaded plazas, cultural attractions and community spaces are woven into the riverfront to encourage social interaction and reconnect people with the water. The project also focuses on improving environmental conditions through river edge stabilisation, better management of water levels and the use of local materials and vegetation to ensure the design responds to its natural context.
