The Gorakhpur Atomic Power Plant, located in Fatehabad district, is part of India’s strategic expansion of nuclear capacity in the northern region. Designed as a two-phase development, the project will ultimately house four indigenous Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) of 700 MWe each, contributing 2,800 MW to the grid. The first phase, comprising Units 1 and 2, is under construction and represents a significant step towards achieving India’s clean energy targets.

Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) provided engineering for the Nuclear Island and Balance of Plant, including water systems, outdoor works, switchyard and reservoir. The team delivered civil, structural and piping design integrated with electrical and instrumentation systems, supported by procurement assistance and project management oversight to ensure timely execution and compliance with stringent safety standards.
