Location

Goa, India

Goa’s water transmission system serves towns, villages and industries and lacked direct flow measurement which led to unaccounted for water. A large scale audit monitored service reservoirs and master balancing reservoirs by synchronising operations across multiple sites and measuring inflows and outflows during controlled test periods using level indicator scales and high frequency communication sets for coordination between treatment plants and reservoirs.

TCE's Scope

Tata Consulting Engineers coordinated more than seventy five personnel for the audit, recommended further tests using the stop tap method to pinpoint leakage sources at pipeline level and adopted a macro to micro approach for systematic identification and repair.

Impact

The audit revealed that approximately eighteen percent of water in the transmission system was unaccounted for and provided clear insights into performance and practical strategies for ongoing leakage control and efficient management.
