Location

India

This assignment formed part of feasibility studies under a power sector efficiency programme supported through an international development framework. The study covered multiple industrial sectors including cement, paper, glass and ceramics. Site visits were undertaken across multiple plant locations to identify state of the art technologies suitable for adoption.

A total of 10 technologies were selected across the covered sectors, including 4 for cement, 4 for paper, one for glass and one for ceramics.

TCE's Scope

TCE worked as an associate consultant and contributed to selection of technologies through plant visits, evaluation of technical options and preparation of study outputs. The scope included assessment of technical feasibility, financial viability and space requirements for retrofitting within existing systems, culminating in structured reports aligned to programme requirements. TCE also supported presentation of feasibility studies in a seminar in March 1999.

Impact

The assignment created an evidence-based technology shortlist to improve energy efficiency across key industrial sectors. It supported informed decision making on feasible retrofit pathways by linking technical assessment with practical constraints such as space requirements and viability considerations, enabling more structured planning for sector wide efficiency improvements.
