The project began commercial operations in 2025 and focuses on capturing carbon dioxide produced from industrial activity in Louisiana. It is designed to transport and store significant volumes of carbon dioxide each year in secure underground formations. This forms part of a wider move by the energy industry to adopt carbon capture technology as a practical way of lowering emissions and supporting cleaner production. The project also aligns with ongoing developments across the region where several industrial facilities are preparing to integrate similar carbon capture systems. Additional projects are expected to come online in 2026 as part of a broader programme of low carbon infrastructure across Texas and Louisiana.

TCE’s Scope

The scope covered engineering support from early works through to commissioning for this first commercial scale blue ammonia project. The work included support for carbon dioxide compressors civil and site development electrical infrastructure mechanical equipment piping systems and pipe racks. The scope also involved coordination with key technical teams to ensure safe and efficient integration of the carbon capture systems within existing industrial facilities. In addition to this the organisation has served as a long term engineering service provider to the operator offering continued technical expertise and project support throughout development and operational stages.

Impact

The project supports long term reduction of industrial emissions in the region and strengthens the area's position as a growing hub for low carbon technologies. It provides a pathway to cleaner production methods and encourages further investment in sustainable infrastructure. The expansion of carbon capture projects is expected to reduce environmental impact improve air quality and support regional energy security. It also sets the foundation for future developments that will contribute to wider decarbonisation efforts across the industrial sector.
