In 1984, Bombay Dyeing established a dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) manufacturing plant in Patalganga, Maharashtra, with a capacity of 60,000 TPA, relocating a plant from Burlington, New Jersey, USA.

The project, featuring technology from Hercofina, USA, required TCE to manage dismantling in the USA, inspection, detailed engineering, procurement in India, construction supervision, and commissioning assistance.

A key challenge was adapting the plant to India’s 50 Hz power supply from the US’s 60 Hz, necessitating significant equipment replacement and re-engineering.

TCE’s involvement covered comprehensive overhauls, performance testing of rotary equipment and instrumentation, and detailed engineering for the process plant, utilities, and offsite components, ensuring the project’s successful execution.
