Location

Canada

The project involves the development of a blue ammonia production facility in Alberta, Canada, aimed at supporting lower‑carbon pathways for industrial ammonia manufacturing. The facility is designed to integrate carbon management systems with core process and utility infrastructure, enabling ammonia production that aligns with Canada’s decarbonization objectives while serving the growing North American market for low‑carbon fuels.

TCE’s Scope

TCE USA provided comprehensive design and engineering support for critical process, utility, electrical, and site infrastructure systems. The scope included engineering of a large CO₂ compressor, design of cooling towers, pumps, and a glycol dehydration unit, and upgrades to electrical systems. TCE also delivered site engineering works such as paving, drainage, and firewater networks, along with detailed design of piping and pipe racks, including export pipelines to the off‑take partner. In addition, TCE designed the compressor building and cooling water pump buildings to support continuous operations in extreme climatic conditions.

Impact

The project established essential outside‑battery‑limits infrastructure required for blue ammonia production and export. By enabling carbon handling, integrated utilities, and resilient site systems, TCE’s work helped convert energy transition intent into an operational industrial asset. The facility contributes to strengthening Canada’s position in the evolving low‑carbon ammonia value chain and supports the broader transformation of the hydrocarbons and chemicals sector toward cleaner production models.
