Baroda’s growing population, industrial development and expanding urban footprint led to rising demand that exceeded the capacity of existing supply systems. Consistent availability of potable water required systematic augmentation of the water supply infrastructure. The project strengthened transmission systems, developed additional pumping capacity and expanded storage infrastructure after detailed studies assessed performance, identified bottlenecks and defined augmentation measures to stabilise supply during peak demand periods.

TCE's Scope

Tata Consulting Engineers provided comprehensive engineering services that covered system analysis, planning and detailed design. Hydraulic modelling of transmission and distribution networks was performed, engineering designs were prepared for new pipelines and pumping stations and service reservoirs were designed.

Technical documentation and tender drawings and specifications were prepared and implementation was supported through design review and quality assurance. Interventions focused on improving system resilience, reducing operational stress and enabling efficient integration of new infrastructure with existing assets through phased implementation strategies that minimised disruption while delivering capacity enhancement.

Impact

The project improved water availability, strengthened distribution reliability and supported Baroda’s continued urban and industrial growth through a more robust supply system.
