Location

India

This potential assessment initiative evaluates opportunities for floating solar installations across reservoirs and water bodies in eight states and union territories. These include Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra including the Konkan and Krishna Valley region, Odisha, Telangana, the National Capital Territory of Delhi, Lakshadweep and Sikkim. The project aims to identify suitable sites for large scale floating photovoltaic development based on solar resource potential and environmental conditions.

TCE's Scope

TCE carried out detailed evaluations for all identified sites. The work included the solar resource assessment supported by analysis of historical solar radiation data and preparation of the energy yield study.

The scope also involved environmental impact analysis, survey work, investigation activities and a complete review of technical feasibility supported by engineering inputs for future planning.

Impact

TCE’s assessments provided a clear understanding of floating solar opportunities across diverse climatic and geographic regions. The study offers a structured approach for selecting viable sites, helps reduce project level risks and supports strategic planning for expanding floating solar capacity across India.
