The Anveri Mini Hydel Scheme is a 2 x 750 kW installation located near the Anveri escape on the Bhadra Right Bank Canal in Shimoga district of Karnataka. The scheme utilises irrigation releases discharged into the Mattihalla nalla.

Flows are diverted through a power canal to a forebay and intake structure and conveyed through 2 mild steel penstocks of 1.4 m diameter to the powerhouse. Tailrace flows are returned to the nalla through a short channel.

TCE’s scope

TCE prepared the detailed project report, including layout planning, hydraulic design and sizing of diversion structures, power canal, penstocks and powerhouse arrangements.

Impact

The scheme achieves an annual generation of 7.3 million units with a plant load factor of 55 percent, demonstrating decentralised hydropower development using irrigation infrastructure.
