This project involves a comprehensive power system analysis for a 600 MW combined cycle gas turbine development, including integration with an existing 500/220 kV substation and associated power transmission infrastructure. The assignment focuses on validating safe and reliable integration of the new generation block with the transmission network by developing complete network models and evaluating system behaviour under a range of operating and contingency conditions.

The study scope includes network modelling, load flow evaluation, short circuit analysis, motor acceleration studies and relay coordination assessments. These analyses are aimed at ensuring secure operation, identifying system constraints and confirming compliance with grid requirements prior to commissioning.

TCE's Scope

TCE carried out digital network modelling and scenario-based simulations, followed by analytical studies covering load flow, short circuit, motor acceleration and relay coordination. The scope also included development of technical recommendations based on study outcomes to strengthen operational safety and ensure readiness for integration with the existing 500/220 kV substation and transmission interfaces.

Impact

The assignment supported reliable commissioning and grid compliant operation of a 600 MW generation block by validating electrical performance and protection readiness before integration. The study outcomes strengthened system reliability and operational safety by identifying constraints early and providing clear recommendations aligned to secure transmission system operation.
