The project involved a large scale thermal power plant with an installed capacity of 4 x 600 MW, executed in phases. Each unit consisted of a boiler and turbine generator system with a turbine rated at 625 MW operating at 3600 rpm.

Cooling water systems utilised sea water supplied through 4 pumps, each rated at 27900 cubic metres per hour. Fresh water requirements were met through desalination units producing 4000 cubic metres per day per unit. The plant incorporated advanced governing and protection systems to support on load testing and stable operation.
