This project involves comprehensive power system analysis for a large scale independent power producer facility with an installed capacity of 2,300 MW. The assignment supports safe, reliable and optimised operation of a thermal power generation facility through detailed evaluation of the electrical system.

The scope includes development of complete network models and execution of load flow analysis, short circuit assessment, motor acceleration studies, harmonic analysis, relay coordination and evaluation of reactive power capability. Additional assessments include sizing of generator circuit breakers and isolated phase bus ducts to ensure equipment adequacy under various operating scenarios.

The studies validate system behaviour under steady state, transient and contingency conditions, supporting grid stability and operational efficiency.

TCE's Scope

TCE acted as EPC consultant and carried out digital modelling of the full power system. The scope included comprehensive analytical studies, equipment sizing assessments for switchboards, generator step up transformers, unit auxiliary transformers and associated systems, and preparation of technical recommendations based on study outcomes.

Impact

The assignment enabled data driven validation of electrical system performance for a 2,300 MW generation facility. The study outcomes supported optimised equipment sizing, improved system stability and enhanced grid compliance, strengthening long term operational reliability of the power plant.
