This project involved comprehensive power system studies for dual solar power facilities, each with a capacity of 150 MW, to support stable and secure renewable integration into the grid. The studies were undertaken to evaluate system performance across a range of operating and disturbance conditions.

The scope included detailed network modelling of the complete solar plant, load flow analysis, short circuit studies and assessment of reactive power requirements. Dynamic simulations were carried out to evaluate inverter behaviour, power plant controller response, low voltage ride through, high voltage ride through, frequency response, voltage response and ramp rate performance.

Power quality studies were also undertaken, including harmonic analysis, flicker assessment and direct current injection evaluation to ensure compliance with grid performance standards.

TCE's Scope

TCE acted as owner’s consultant and carried out detailed system modelling and simulation using industry standard software tools. The scope included steady state, dynamic and power quality studies, development of automated Python scripts for dynamic simulations, and automation of Excel based power quality calculation and benchmarking files.

Impact

The project supported secure integration of 2 × 150 MW of solar capacity by validating electrical performance under both normal and disturbed grid conditions. Automated workflows improved analysis efficiency and consistency, enabling timely delivery of approved study reports and supporting reliable renewable energy integration.
