TCE marked a technological milestone by designing and manufacturing two large antennas for satellite communication Earth stations, a first in India, at Hathikanda (for DOT) and Kankot (for VSNL). These 18.3 meter diameter C Band antennas, compatible with INTELSAT Satellites, featured a mild steel structure with 24 radial trusses and 112 aluminium panels.

TCE’s comprehensive role spanned design, engineering, procurement, and project management, showcasing their capability to create large scale communication infrastructure. With 82% of the project’s value sourced domestically, TCE also led in developing indigenous control and feed systems, aiming for self sufficiency in Earth Station Technology and reducing foreign dependency, thus contributing to the advancement of India’s communication capabilities.
