This 150 MW solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage development supports clean energy supply for one of the major mining zones in Gamsberg, South Africa. The project aims to reduce dependence on conventional power sources, improve energy reliability for mining operations and strengthen long term sustainability targets for the region.
TCE's Scope
TCE served as the owner’s engineer for both the solar photovoltaic plant and the storage facility. The scope included preparation of the Request for Quotation, management of bid queries and support during bid evaluation.
TCE also provided technical support required to finalise the selection of the contractor and supplier, ensuring that the plant configuration and technical specifications meet performance expectations for mining operations.
Impact
TCE’s work supported informed decision making for a high-capacity renewable installation within a mining environment. The bid support, evaluation review and technical guidance helped establish a clear pathway for selecting suitable partners and ensuring dependable project delivery. The development strengthens energy security for the mining facility and encourages broader adoption of renewable power in industrial operations.
