This project involves power system analysis for a 1,000 MW open cycle gas turbine power plant developed to support fast responding generation capacity. The studies were undertaken to ensure safe, optimised and grid compliant integration of the plant into the transmission network.

The scope included network modelling, load flow analysis, short circuit assessment, motor acceleration studies, harmonic evaluation, protection coordination, generator circuit breaker and isolated phase bus duct sizing, transformer sizing and tap optimisation. Grid compliance assessment was also carried out to validate performance against applicable requirements.

The studies collectively ensured that the fast responding nature of the plant was supported by a robust and stable electrical system design.

TCE's Scope

TCE acted as EPC consultant and carried out detailed system modelling and scenario based simulations. The scope included optimisation of generator circuit breaker and transformer sizing, tap optimisation studies and preparation of grid compliance documentation.

Impact

The studies supported stable and efficient integration of 1,000 MW of fast responding generation capacity. Optimised equipment sizing and validated system performance improved operational reliability and ensured compliance with grid requirements under a range of operating conditions.
