This 1.5 GW wind energy development forms part of a major renewable energy programme planned for the Neom region. The project aims to harness large scale wind resources to support one of the most ambitious sustainable city developments in the world.
TCE's Scope
TCE carried out the complete hydrology study and food risk assessment for the project area. The scope included finalisation of wind turbine generator locations and wind farm layout, along with preparation of the wind turbine generator foundation design.
TCE designed and detailed the crane pads, wind turbine component storage areas and all other balance of plant civil works required for wind turbine erection as per the requirements of the original equipment manufacturer.
TCE also delivered the electrical system design for the wind power plant including the cable collection system.
Impact
TCE’s engineering work helped establish a technically sound layout and construction plan for a very large wind farm in Neom. The civil and electrical designs improve constructability, long term reliability and operational safety. The hydrology and risk assessments support informed site planning and mitigate environmental and operational risks. The project strengthens Neom’s long term clean energy base through large scale wind generation.
